Canadian State genocide- Remains of 215 Indigenous children found in residential school
Residential schools were part of the Canadian government’s policy to forcefully assimilate Indigenous people. While the federal system, of government-sponsored religious schools was established in 1883, the origins of residential schools date to the 1830s. The Catholic Church ran the majority of residential schools, while others were run by the Anglicans and United Church of Canada. Only the Catholic Church has not apologized for its actions.
